| Description |
The vacuole is a characteristic feature of the plant cell.[1] It occupies most of the interior of the cell and displaces the organelles into a thin peripheral plasma layer.[2] In these epidermis cells of the onion Allium cepa the vacuoles contain red substance.[3]
