Food Vacuoles - Slipper Animalcule (Paramecium, Ciliata)
| Description |
The "slipper animalcule" Paramecium ingests food particles that have entered the buccal cavity. These particles can only be phagocytosed at the base of this cavity. Here is seen the formation of a food vacuole, which increases in size, detaches from the buccal cavity and is transported from the cell interior. Several food vacuoles can already be seen in the cell cytoplasm.
