  Tips to play the videos

Description Here are two stomata in the epidermis pealed from the underside. Gas bubbles, present because the specimen was mounted in water, escape from the slit-like gaps when the stomate open Opening is accelerated by the addition of 0.1 micromolar solution of fusicoccin [1].

Closing is induced by the addition of a 10 micromolar solution of the plant hormone abscisic acid. The pores close due to a decrease in volume of the guard cells, accompanied by a swelling of neighbouring cells. The opening and closing of the pores regulates gas exchange and therefore transpiration [2].
