| Description |
In the alga Nitella the chloroplasts are located in the outer cortical, stationary face of the protoplasm. Cyclosis is confined to the inner layer of the protoplasm. This movement also transports the cell sap together with ist inclusions. By focusing through the cell the wall lining on the underside with ist chloroplasts is visible. Actin filaments are involved in protoplasmic streaming [1]. In chloroplast-free regions the zonation of the protoplasm into a stationary cortical and a mobile inner face can be seen [2].
