| Description |
Filaments of the cyanobacterium Oscillatoria perform oscillatory swinging movements [1]. Oscillatoria rotates about its axis as it moves forward. This locomotion is probably caused by the secretion of a substance which induces movement and by contractile proteins in the third wall layer [2].
