| Description |
While RNA polymerase is synthesising RNA copies of the DNA, it rotates with respect to the DNA helix along which it moves. After the poly-A polymerase has coupled to the complex and has synthesized the adenosine tail the pre-mRNA separates from the polymerase. It immediately binds to specific proteins. Some additional RNA fragments are also synthesized, but they have neither guanosine caps nor poly-A tails and are quickly degraded. Now the RNA polymerase separates from the DNA.
